Bidding Rule of the week #1

Each week, I’m going to give you one of  MED’s bidding rules with the caveat that some of them might differ from what you may read elsewhere. Also, these are not meant to be specific to a particular bidding system but, instead, are meant to be general guidelines. I encourage comments/questions/discussion in the comments section. This should be an open forum!

So here we go with the first of (approximately) 20 suggestions for improving your bidding. Enjoy!

1.     Make sure you and your partner are playing the same things. Sounds pretty obvious, but I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard things like: “I thought we were playing transfers” (…or substitute any other convention here…). Of course the clever response of “not this time, partner” will probably not be well received!
